Fraudulent Accounts
A “fraudulent account” refers to an account created by using someone else's information, the name of a non-existent person or organization, or generated through automated means for purposes that are not constitute legitimate use of the service. KakaoTalk operates on the principle of safely managing accounts based on the user’s actual information to ensure the reliability of the service and protect users. Therefore, the creation or operation of multiple fake accounts to deceive others or to engage in activities that deviate from the intended use of the service is not permitted.
If Kakao confirms any of the following fraudulent account-related activities, through user reports, internal system detection, or requests from relevant authorities, it may immediately and permanently restrict the user from access to all of KakaoTalk services in order to ensure service reliability and protect other users.
- Creating and operating multiple fraudulent accounts for purposes such as sales or marketing
- Creating fraudulent accounts to send messages to other users
- Misrepresenting one’s gender or age information to access other users (e.g., adults pretending to be minors, minors pretending to be adults, or providing false information in open chatroom profiles)
- Creating content by falsely representing one’s gender or age information
- Creating and operating an account by stealing someone else’s photo, name, profile information, etc.
- Using someone else’s information to obtain verification or similar approvals
- Creating multiple fraudulent accounts to distort the community atmosphere, attempt harassment of specific users, or manipulate public opinion
- Creating and operating abnormal accounts in a manner that goes against the original purpose of KakaoTalk services or undermines trust between users
If service use is restricted due to a fraudulent account, the user may request the lifting of the restriction by verifying their identity.
